QCC backup with PRI?

A company I support just converted their copper lines to a PRI. There is no DID and all incoming calls are answered at one QCC position. In the past a MLX16 phone provided backup to the console via a delayed-ring Personal Line button for Pool 70.

This arrangement no longer works. What is the best way to get calls to the backup extension when the QCC attendant is away or gets overloaded with calls?

Thanks,
thackney

You could add a second QCC position.

You may not have a block of DID numbers, but the main number on the PRI is a DID! PRI does NOT do ringing current. Digits are sent in a call set up message on the DCH, otherwise there would be NO incoming at all. That being said, you probably need to contact the service provider to find out all the specifics on how the PRI is configured and what Telco is providing, unless you handled the service orders to do the PRI from the beginning, or the customer has all the order correspondence with the Telco.

You could post a print of the PRI and QCC configurations so we can see what is programmed on the Legend. That way we can offer better suggestions.

This is a good example why customers should NOT do PRI orders with out consultation and evaluation of the system. Leave it to the ones that know!

Thank you for your reply SYQUEST.

The customer is not interested in adding another QCC at this time. Following are the PRI and OPERATOR reports you requested.

It looks like the DID numbers are as follows:
6300 - 0 (100)
5264 - 228
8604 - 229
5312 - 230
6373 - 231
5143 - 232
and you have a 4 digit feed from the CO switch. The only backup for the QCC is another QCC or VoiceMail, but you can use the call Pickup feature to answer 100 from another phone. In order to provide coverage for the console the QCC will need to be changed to a DLC Console configuration. Then you can put a COVER button for 100 on the MLX16 phone, and program the delay as needed. I would also change the NUMBER TO ADD for 6300 to 100, not 0. If you have the Feature Reference document, you might want to read the sections and interactions on QCCs and DLCs to understand the differences and limitations of same.
