QBasic grinds my Win2k Pro computer to a halt!

Every time I have QBasic open on my Win2k machine, every windows function and all other programs run extremely slowly. If I start a big process while QBasic is open, it will be noticably slower than it should be, and the second I close QBasic, the other process zips back up to full speed.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Thanks
Ian

From my experience, you won't be able to just port your code over to VB. Many of the commands are similar, but most are not exactly the same. It isn't too much work to convert them, however.

What version of QBasic are you running? I've run QB 4.5 on Windows 95, 98, and XP (but not Win2K), with no problems. You might try downloading a copy of that and giving it a try. I'll bet it will work.

If you want to port code to windows and it's not graphics,
I would suggest PowerBasic. Tight code and probably a lot more compatible with QuickBasic code than VB is.

PowerBasic... I'll have to check that out..

Thanks
Ian
