Hello,
I am currently having trouble with one of my computers.
It was connected to the internet and running Norton AV and crashed during a power outage. Now, when it starts up, the following message is presented:
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM
Boot Failure, System Halted
It seems like it is trying to boot from a network, but it is NOT on a network, nor should it be.
I checked the BIOS settings and they are in the following order: Floppy, CD, HD, Network
When the 4th choice is disabled to remove the network, the system reports: Boot Failure, System Halted with no other text.
So, that didn't work.
I then re-installed Windows XP OS, and it booted correctly, only to give the error message after it was powered-down and turned back on.
I went back into BIOS and disabled one of the IDE settings, and now it will boot, but it is incredably slow.
Any ideas/help on what could be wrong with the PC would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Jeff
