Should Zenworks for Desktops 4 work with any PXE compliant NIC? We are using motherboards with an onboard NIC and when trying to boot and build from the onboard NIC the MAC address is broadcast and the DHCP server assigns an IP address - however then it falls over with the error "No response from Port map service" Any ideas folks?

What kind of NIC is embeded onto the MB? (chip set)

Have you installed the service pack for ZFD4?
if not, then do so

The chipset is the SIS 900 and the service pack has been applied but to no avail.

are you running spanning tree on your switches? If so, you need to make sure that fast learning is enabled (portfast on Cisco, fastlearning on Nortel) otherwise it can take too long for the port to "learn" the mac and no DHCP offer gets back to the box bc no packets are getting forwarded... On some hardware it can take 2 minutes to complete! PXE waits about 30 sec.. something to look at anyhow.

Also check not only spanning tree but VLANS...The zen docs talk about this and give examples of how to configure switches (cisco, bay and nortel) to get around it. I've verified that vlans are an issue because I have the same problem...pxe can't find servers to get boot data from but, if I put them on the same Vlan as the zen works server then it works like a charm. We use Lucent here, I'm still trying to find how to configure it to get around this issue.
