Hello Everyone,

I am in the process of setting up a RIS enviroment. The RIS Server has been set up and the XP image has been created sucessfully.

My problem is when booting my test client to the network I receive a PXE-E53 error.

The PXE Agent initializes, I get the DHCP ..../ message then I get the this error.

The Error states - PXE-E53: The Boot file cannot be found.

Any ideas??

Thanks dafricano

Check your DHCP settings and PXE settings. One, the other, or both are wrong. You might just need to re-install the PXE portion or reconfigure the DHCP. Is the DHCP on the RIS server or another server? If it's on another server, then you probably never made the needed DHCP setting changes.

The issue had to do with BINL Service not running properly. The error I mentioned above appears between the DHCP process and the BINL process so DHC was not a problem. The client machine was getting an IP addess but could find the OS Chooser pages.

I tried this with Server 2003 and got these errors, I tried in 2000 for giggles and worked like a charm.

Thanks for you response.

I think the issue was that the DHCP server requires a #60 and a #66 entry to point explicitly to the RIS server, not that you could not pull an IP.
