I've just got a lovely new laptop running XP Home...
Can't run PWS!

I have instructions from DevDex, and am nearly there - but
I need IIS.DLL & IIS.INF from 2000 or better (XP is cunning
enough to stop me using NT option Pack 4).

Anyone know where I can download these files from?

TIA
Griff

Thanks for the link, but it's basically a myth. XP Home has been modestly knobbled to differentiate it from it's bigger counterpart. It will run IIS, in fact there was a solution on the MS website until they pulled it.

I've got the instructions, which are really straightforward and all I need is the two files from a later version of IIS than the one I have at the moment. In practise, I'm almost certain that a little hacking would enable me to use the ones I have already... but it seems a waste of time, when I know how to get the result anyway!

Thanks again...
Hopefully someone will point me in the right direction.

Best

I guess you learned a valuable lesson here. That being: don't change OS' until you know its compatable with what you need to run.

;)

Well, in general terms I think you're right. Don't change OS..., but I was sold on the chip, the RAM, the HDD and the TFT.

That said I did my research first and found the route to get it going, only I didn't bank on MS coding the OS so that it wouldn't run IIS pre v5. Otherwise I would have gotten the disks ready and not sulked on a Sunday when I was short of the latest version.

Still, get a life, grow up and all that.

Thanks for your help

haha, Yea im planning on going back to Windows 2000 pro, do to the fact I can't get the properties > security tab to be visible in Windows XP pro, so another words I can't write to my database?!!? So thus presents a problem. -sigh-

Jason,

1st, I meant the get a life for ME, so I hope I caused no offence!

I know what you mean regarding the other stuff though... MS always messes with things version to version. Still I quite like the new interface.

Snowboardr,
Maybe your system has Fat32 instead of NTFS. Mine does because I upgraded from Win Me. Although I have not done this you can Run
CONVERT drive: /FS:NTFS
to convert.
See

Generate Forms/Controls Resizing/Tabbing Class
Compare Code (Text)
Generate Sort Class in VB or VBScript

I checked that already, But my drive is NTFS.
Thanks for the input on the subject though.
