hey guys...theres a query regarding pwd. if i use /sbin/pwd it shows me the actual path but when i use /bin/pwd it shows me the original
lrwxr-xr-- 1 root sys 7 Apr 10 16:49 lsf_scratch -> /lsfcf1/
drwxrwxrwt 2 root sys 9 Apr 15 15:28 lsfcf1/
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root sys 12 Feb 28 09:18 scr_lsf -> /lsf_scratch/

#pwd
/scr_lsf
#/bin/pwd
/lsfcf1
#which pwd
/sbin/pwd
#

can somebody clear up whats happening...!! thanx in advance Thief................ ::)

What's happening is that just "pwd" is using your shell's built-in pwd which obviously has a different default for showing logical vs. physical location.

Dependent on your shell, you may be able to change its default behavior; read your man pages for your shell. Tony Lawrence
