Question:

Running MAS90 Ver 3.60 single user on Window XP Pro.

When using Mas90 Ver 3.60 I get the following error when
runing Library Master/Utilities/Report Format Maintenance.

"ProvidX for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close."

"Error siginature
AppName: pvxwin32.ese Appver: 4.22.16.0
Offset: 0008ac87."

Then when I close the error windows and try to run another
program under MAS90 I get the following, "1 user limit
exceeded. Contact your dealer for an upgrade. No valid
activation found."

If I close MAS90 and reopen it I can use other programs.

Any time that I select "Files/Preferences/Printer Prefs" the program says that it has encountered a ProvideX problem and needs to close.

Also I have reinstalled MAS90 from scratch and activated it. I uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it using Win2000 drivers. XP will not allow me to run any older drivers. If I uninstall the printer completely I still get the same results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

When you go to the printer pref's section, MAS90 tries to pull up and "look at" all of the available printer's on that machine. It lets you then set things like fonts, font-sizes, etc for each printer--so that whenever you'd send a report or listing in MAS90 to that printer, that is what settings it would use. Obviously Providex (the language MAS90 is written in) is having a problem with one of your printers? Are you doing anything funky with any of them? Do they all work (can you print to them all in another windows app)? Report format maintenance messes with some of these same printer settings. I'd even go as far as one-by-one removing printers on that workstation until the problem goes away--and try to isolate which printer is causing the problem -- and then check to see if updated drivers are available. The problem isn't in any MAS90 program per se, it is in the Providex language accessing the printers through std windows communication DLL's -- which points this to being something environmental -- like your printer drivers.

Good luck!

PgmrChris,

Thanks for the reply. I removed all of the printers, one at a time. One was an Epson Stylus 850, one an NEC P9300, and the last WinFax. Then I restarted Mas90 after installing the Epson again. I still get the same result.

Could it have to do with using Ver 3.60 with XP Pro? I know it worked ok under Win98. I don't know if it worked with Win2000 as I only used it on that operating system for a short time.

Any other thoughts?

You could try re-running wkstn setup (run the setup.exe in the mas90/wksetup directory) to see if something w/mas90 is mangled. At this point, you've got me stumped..
