the client has an acs for 5 lines - line 3 being as a fax and system line (outbound calls only) - as well as tied to a fax extension.

I have a selector code setup for a small pc card vm system. 3 for this and 4 for that ( I couldn't use 1 and 2 for some reason). anyhow, (4 line rotary hunt) the vm transfers the call prior to the end of the selector code mention to the fax extension. a short time later the fax machine answers. if the fax is in use, instead of giving a busy (as in the case of a busy extension), the announcement is played normally. there is no assignment for that extension to have vm coverage.

why is the vm system transferring the call to that extension? and, how can I fix it, so that regardless of the line hit the vm menu announcement will play all the way through without an attempt to transfer?

thx

Hi Wayne,
The ACS processor is what is listening for the fax CNG tone. If a fax is detected, the call gets taken back by the system from the voicemail and transfered to the fax extention. So the voicemail isn't doing anything, the ACS processor is. If the fax extention is busy, the system can't take the call from the voicemail. Did I understand your question correctly?

Take the FAX extension out of hunt group 8. #505-8-XX-2, where XX is the FAX extension number.
