Had a hard drive fail, on a non-rootvg Volume Group cdrsdata.

lsvg '-p' cdrsdata
lsvg: Unable to find device id 00000122674aa799 in the Device Configuration Database

PVNAME PV STATE
hdisk active
00000122674aa799 missing

I would like to remove this VG altogether, but keep failing because if this bad drive.

Any help would be appreciated.

What command are you using that is failing? Are there any LVs on the VG?

reducevg '-d' cdrsdata 00000122674aa799

results:

0516-914 rmlv: Warning all data belonging to logical volume paging00 on physical volume 00000122674aa799 will be destoyed.
rmlv: Do you want to continue? (y/n) y

0516-1008 rmlv: Logical volume paging 00 must be closed. If the logical volume contains a filesystem, the umount command will close the LV device.

0516-884 reducevg: unable to remove physical volume 00000122674aa799.

There is the paging00 and /dev/loglv00, mount point = lv02

Hi

The Paging Space must be closed.
Deactivate the Pagingspace - Reboot - rmlv
Is the JFS log mirrored ?
If not unmount all FS in this VG.
#rmlv loglv
#reduecevg
create a new with the same size
#logform newloglv
#chfs -a log=newloglv /data mount the FS
#fsck /data
#mount /data

WHy not use unmirrorvg and migratepv??
