Can I get some more information on the use of PUTTY?
I can VPN into a BCM and hit the desktop, but does PUTTY offer more or easier access?

Putty is a SSH client, functions the same as telnet, but with more security. All it does is give you CLI access to the BCM, same as telnet or connecting via a serial cable.

That way, you can leave the telnet ability of the BCM off so your more nosy customers don't play around.

I also prefer restarting the BCM via PuTTy rather than via Unified Manager.

OK how would I get PuTTy and how would I use it to access the BCM?

Thanks
I like the sound of leaving telnet off. MagnaRGP can you give me a little more on commands available through PUTTY?
I have never restarted the BCM without the UM or serial cable.

Putty is available from the Install Clients page on the BCM.

Commands are the same as via telnet or serial cable - option 8 to restart.

The command line interface is exactly the same as it is when you telnet to the BCM. The only problem with putty is if you mis-type something, you can't backspace and correct it. It's just a glitch.
