We have our intranet currently running on our server.
But I would like to take it and incorprate it into our
proxy server so we can use some of the frontpage add-ons.
Is this an easy process...and where can I get some help on this.
Microsofts page is bad .. Can't find anything on it.
I even check technet.

Thanks
Peter

Intranet? Intranet is a term to define an internal network that offer IP services.
I suppose that you are reffering to the server that keeps this architecture.
And of course that that server can be also a proxy server. Being proxy, mail server, webserver, ftp-server are just functions ( services). You need just to fullfill the requirements (hardware, software).
Of course that having all these services on a single machine, can be a problem. You need a powerfull server (for Microsoft products), and don't forget thatyou will have a single point-of-failure. If that server will be down ( can be because of intruders attacks) then all your inntranet services are down. Gia Betiu

Yes, I know all that...I'm the admin here.
We are a small company and don't have the cash for multiple servers.

The question again is ...Anyone know the steps to
putting up out intranet on the proxy server/iis server.

What do you mean? How to install proxy? Email server? Webserver? Gia Betiu

Ok, right now we just have the intranet in a shared folder on our network. People just map to it and thats it.
I want to have proxy server take over that so we can use some of the front page extensions included in our webpage.
Is it as simple as telling the proxy server the locationn of the intranet folder. Giving it an ip in proxy and thats it??

Thanks

Peter

P.S Didn't mean to sound sarcastic in the previous message.

Ok, well, the proxy server should not have anything to do with your intranet. The proxy service should help you to connect your network to the internet.
What I understand from you, is that you want your users to type in internet explorer like: myserver and then they should be connected to the "intranet shared folder" that you have.

First you have to install and configure your IIS server (or what webserver you have).
Seccond you have to create a virtual directory in web server pointing to your directory where are your "intranet" files. You can make the default web site pointing to them.

There is nothing more. And nothing relating to your proxy server.

Did I catch your point?

Weird. When I open Microsoft Management Console.
It gives me the option of telling where the intranet files are and so on..I have always called the proxy server because thats where I configure the proxy server from.

Ok, good I will try that.

Thanks
