I have services for macintosh setup on my NT Server 4 Domain. I also have a MAC Volume setup.
How do you allow a MAC Client running OS 9.1 to connect to an NT Server and access files and directoiries outside a MAC Volume? I want this MAC user to be able to map a drive to a share on an NT Server NTFS partition that allows her to share files with the marketing division.
Scenario:
Marketing Share on NTFS partition (outside of MAC Volume)
MAC Client OS 9.1 needs access to that share
Has anyone figured how to make a Mac running OSX 10.2 access files on a NT4 server. We keep getting a -50 error when attempting to access files on the NT4 server, although we can access files on other PCs on the system running WXP, for example. Any help would be appreciated.
mdufresn: You can't. You must go to the add that share you want the Mac's to see to your services for Mac list of shares. you can share it out as both a normal windows share and a mac share. The disk format is irrelevant.
This is not a simple solution, as you will need to download the source, use the command line to compile and install, and then setup a config file for it. But it works. There's another program called sharity-light which may also work, but I've only used that on FreeBSD machines. OS X may be similar enough to run it though.
helfenmir: zelandakh is correct. you can't run NT login scripts. You can however write your own shell script to mount network drives after login. ________

Dave is for OS 9 and below. It uses the NetBIOS protocol to see PC shares in the chooser, or to share out folders from your Mac on a windows network. It worked pretty well. I had a couple minor bugs with it from time to time though. ________
