Hi, thankyou everyone for your help in the past.

Using IL CS4 WIN XP

Looking to put a border on cutout photo from photoshop with transparent background.

Once placed in IL, how to put a border around it?

Thanks

Nikky

...do you mean a border that follows the contours around the subject matter?

...you will need to have an additional path for that, one quick way is to create a quick selection in photoshop, make a work path, then copy and paste that path into illustrator...

...either apply a stroke to it position to the front (maintains vector), or position it behind the PSD fill it with solid and offset the path (effect > path > offset path (becomes pixels as it interacts with transparency from the PSD)...

...or you simply create a layer style in photoshop that has the stroke option enabled...

...to add...

...your better off doing the offset path method, positioned behind the PSD in most cases, some areas do become pixels when flattened, but most is maintained as vector...

...to add to my above post about photoshop:

>>> "one quick way is to create a quick selection in photoshop" <<<

...a quick selection can be made by command/control + click, on a transparent layer, then make a work path in the paths palette (button at the bottom of palette)...

Thank you.

It's hard to believe that a simple things as a border would not be easily done in ILi!!

Nikky.
