Push out patches?

Is there a way to push patches out automatically? We've got over 100 sites with LSP's and media gateways and a duplicated core switch. We're doing System Platform patches and CM patches now, but are doing them one by one, which takes a LOT of time. Is there a way to automate this?

It is a manual process.

To automate that would be a nightmare. Your LSP servers could have different loads and different patches.

hotpatch, coldpatch, kernel patch, security patch, bash shellshock, just to name a few. Some do reboots,
CM restarts, etc. An automated process would have to have a lot of intelligence built in and would need
to collect logs for failures, reasons, success, etc.

I don't really think you want to automate something that deactivates, unpacks, removes, activates, restarts
and reboots servers and CM survivable servers remotely.
It is a lot of work. It's job security.

Not to brag, but I've done 15 sites in about 2 hours.
Gateway firmware, MM boards, System Platform patch, CM service pack/kernel/security patches, Utility Server.

It is a painful process of many terminal windows open and copying the same command into each of them over and over and over and just looking for the success/failure messages as you go along.

Break it down into baby steps and hammer away at it!

Not sure if you have access to it, but I'm still using the old Software Update Manager(SUM) (this now lives on System Manager, just haven't made the transition). I just pushed CM 6.3.9 to 32 LSP sites at the same time and they were done within 20-30 minutes. SUM is quite finicky, so pushing security updates are hit and miss whether it will work. I don't believe you can push System Platform patches, but have not tried.
