Push data into Visio

I have purchased Visio Professional 2003.

We have a facilities management diagram that is sectioned off and then broken down farther into individual rooms. These rooms and sections are hyperlinked together and are saved as web pages and then posted on our intranet. Each room has several custom properties. We can export these custom properties to a database, run queries and reports to get any information that we may need that is already in Visio.

Question: Can we push data in the other direction? Specifically, we would like to build a web form where managers could change information about rooms and be able to send that information into Visio. Sending this information into a database is not a problem but then Visio and our database are out of sync.

Is there any way to alter information in a Visio file outside of Visio? If so, can someone give me some information on how to get started? Thanks!

Chad

Actually there is no need to push - Visio offers the possibility to automatically update database-bound shapes.
You just open your visio doc and then refresh (I think it's part of the context menu)
Just have a look in Visio help file, it will tell you how to proceed.

So actually, you will have to re-save as web.
Perhaps you could also write a little visio macro that will refresh all data and then saves as web.

Season greetings,
ANdy
