Purchase order comments

Hello, Here is my question: In Setup>Company>Comments you are allowed to set up comments whichPulled from GP help 7.5)
You can enter up to 200 characters, which will appear on the sales document as four lines of 50 characters each. If you want longer comments to appear, use Report Writer to modify the document layout.

How do you do this? I have tried but hav failed to increase the size of the comments.

Is there a way to increase the overall size of the comments field to greater than 200 characters?

I am not quite sure and somebody will probably verfiy this, but you might be able to modify the field using modifier or you can, If comfortable, go through the sql end and change the size of the field within that specific table.

when you go to insert your comment, use the filed called "Comment text" instead of the comment1/2/3/4. The text is the full unformatted text version of the 4 50 character lines.

I find though that this is so cumbersome that I end up writing a crystal report to capture the data directly. The day that report writer goes the way of the dinosaur will be a happy day for me.

I tried to use the comment text but no information came through on the report - does it pull the data from the setup>company>comments field?

yes, there should be a techknowledge someplace about that.


do a search in techknowledge for report comment, it should come up with what you require.
