Hello,

I'm starting to plan a program where we can scan barcodes on parts into a database to track what we have and what we use. I'm only in the beginning of my planning stages, but I have never worked with reading barcodes before. Does anyone have any experience and advice for this?

I'll be using SQL Server 2008 and .ASP and possibly VB Studio 2008. I'm sort of teaching myself some new stuff as I go along (I don't have a deadline for this, so I have the time to learn some new stuff).

Thanks in advance,

Di

just some points..

Hardware - a Simple USB Wedge scanner that you plug into a workstation, or full RF with a mobile computer type scanner ( like you see them using in Walmart)....big price difference between the 2.

but simply talking about a USB type scanner ( you can get wireless ones) all you do is plug it in and it is just a input device like your Keyboard what ever you scan goes into the the active field...after that it may get complicated where you will validate what is scanned to determine if it belongs in that field etc.
