CR8.5 I am trying to create a report and I need to pull 2 values from same field (Product_code). I have a table called ACTIVITY and need to pull the most recent and next most recent dates from the ACTIVITY.Transaction_date field, the ACTIVITY.Activity_Type needs to be = to "BBE" and the fields to display on the report are from the ACTIVITY.Product_code field. Hope someone can help!

Also, I am new to CR, I have take a couple classes, but formulas are what I find the hardest part of creating reports, could anyone suggest a good book to help write formulas or a web site.
Thanks
Julie

Try this:

Put the rule "Type is equal to BBE" into the select expert to limit the report to those records.

Group the records by Product and sort within the group by date in ascending order ascending.

Hide the details and Group Header.

Put the product code on the footer, which will give you the last one. Write a formula for the next to last one that says:

Previous ({Product}) Ken Hamady, On-site/Phone Crystal Reports Training/Consulting
Quick Reference Guide to using Crystal in VB

I've found the book by George Peck a valuable source of information. It is published by Osborne and is call "Segate Crystal Reports - the COmplete Reference".
