I have a powerplay cube mer.mdc. This cube is deployed on PPES (PowerPlay Enterprise server) and published on Cognos Upfront. Users access this cube via upfront.
When I look at this cube in "News Box" of upfront, it shows "the date on which this cube was last MODIFIED".
Users want to see "the date on which this cube was last REFRESHED". It would assure them that the cube run was successful. I don't know how this is to be done although I am sure that it can be done. -;)

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,
Sanya

Hi,

One way of tackling this is to add a dimension to the cube which contains the system date. Every time the cube rebuids, the dimension is updated so the users can always see in reports/ cube views etc when the cube was last updated.

cheers,

Although adding a system date dimension may give you the date of the refresh, the users would still have to actually open the cube to see that date....
Is there a way to display the Refresh date on the Upfront page instead of the Modified date ?

Hi,
Assuming you have Cognos 7.
You can automate the update of the date of the UpFront newsitem.
First you need to find out the ID in UpFront Datastore for the cube in UpFront. You find the cube-id if you open the properties of the cube , and have a look to Advanced Properties.
Then you place the ID in the following example between the ID tags.
Copy/paste the line in address in IE.
With this line you manually update the cube date. If you want to automate this, you can use the UpFront Command line application ( Upfrontcmd.exe in Windows ( Bin folder) , it exists also in Unix platform). The UpFrontcmd.exe is used to send xml command to UpFront datastore, then you need to specify , User-id, password , servername and Port. In command line, try Upfrontcmd /? you ll get all the parameters, and the syntax.
We are running it in UNIX, after the Kill; set ; enable to refresh the date after the cube refresh.
I think that it will only change the cube date in the newsbox , but not the date of reports based on this cube made by end-users.
