I have a report that is created in Crystal Reports IX - I know how to export it to an excel format - but do not know how to have it automatically run with Crystal Enterprise, then convervted to the excel format, then saved to a file on a shared network drive. I auto run about 100 reports now and they are then printed to a network printer - but can not figure out how to run, then export to different format, then have saved to a file in the excel format for another user to view.

ctrait,

You have saved reports to the Enterprise right? Just making sure you have scheduled reports on the Enterprise, the process is very similar. After you have saved the report to the Enterprise, logoff Crystal Reports, logon the Enterprise CMC, go to the appropriate folder and click on the report, on the next screen click on the SCHEDULE tab, then click on FORMAT and that is where you will select EXCEL format, then click on DESTINATION and select UNMANAGED DISK, which gives you a screen of options, once you have that defined then go back to SCHEDULE and define your schedule frequency. Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the info - worked great except that the Destination is dithered on my system - any way you know to make useable??? Maybe some setting that I don't have set properly?

Hi,
In the CMC you need to setup the Unmanaged Disk option before use. It is set on the 'Destinations' tab on the ReportJobServer Server page.

There must be something missing on our set up - in the CMC on the ReportJobServer Server page, Destinations is dithered there as well. Would it be dithered if the system were set up as a Stand Alone?

Hi,
Are you logged in to the CMC as Administrator?

What do you mean by:
if the system were set up as a Stand Alone

Yes - I am logged in as Administrator - and only asked the Stand Alone because I saw that in a website that Enterprise could be loaded as a stand alone - was not here when software loaded so figured would ask if that could be the problem.

Hi,
I was just curious since I have never heard that phrase connected with a BOE installation - It cannot be 'stand alone' since it needs to be running on server and accessable through the Inter or Intra net.

And just to confirm, you are logged into the CMC as the Administrator ( not just as an username in the Administrators group in the CMC security section)?

Nope logged in as the Administrator with full rights and it is running on a server. Thanks for taking your time with this - especially since I am new to this system and still attempting to figure it out.

Hi,
I am still confused..Logging into the server as administrator is not the same as logging into the CMC as the BOE Administrator...Which have you done ( or is it both)

I am logging into the CMC as the Administrator not a user in the Admin group. The Crystal Enterprise is loaded on the server and I am also logged into the server as Administrator.

Hi,'
very Odd...Can you clarify what you mean by 'is dithered'?

the choice is grayed out - not able to choose it.

Hi,
Try a repair install and be sure that all the options relating to Servers are installed..maybe that one somehow failed...

Hi - back again after trying a reinstall to possibly fix the servers. I did do a repair and still not able to see the Destination in the ReportJob Server. But I was able to get to the Schedule Manager (not logged into the CMC) and add the report. In this section I could theorectically add the report, schedule for day/date/time, then the Destination Tab is there - can enter the destination folder, then there is a Format tab where I can choose excel - so after entering all this - I hit Update and get an error message: There was an error retrieving data from the server: Pluigin 298 does not exist. I have looked everywhere for a reference to this Plugin and have found nothing - any ideas?

Hi,
That seems to indicate that some components were not installed or correctly registered ...Try a reinstall, not a repair, and be sure all the components needed for exporting and unmanaged disk are selected....

This site has all the SAP docs for BOE and Crystal Reports, maybe somewhere there is an answer...
