Publisher won't display graphics

HI,
I have just installed Windows 2000 pro on a user's computer who also happens to use Publisher 97. The problem is, when he goes to insert a picture file or clipart, the box outlining the picture will display (ie so he can resize it) but the actual picture won't display. It will print fine, but he can't see the picture on the page. HE has current video drivers and service pack 2 for windows.... PLEASE HELP!!

Try the "View" / "Picture Display" menu item. Then select either "Detailed display" or "Fast resize and zoom".
