Publisher Not Responding

I am running XPP Desktop operating system, XPP Office Suite with Publisher 2000.

Whenever I try to import graphic files to a publisher document, I keep getting Publisher Not Responding. I have to end Task and go back to it and try again and again.

Does anyone have a fix to this?
