Help. We have very important documents that we need to access and we cannot access them. Searched the net, and all of the solutions fail. Tried the hotfix, and that does not work. Anyone encounter this? If so How did you fix it?
It looks like the only answer is to un-install and re-install without SP2 or go back to 2003.
It seems this problem has been going on for some time, and MS isn't doing anything about it.

Well, if you've got 2003, and 2007 is causing the issues, and the documents are important, they what are you waiting for?

1. On a separate computer, install 2003.
2. Open your files, do whatever with them you need.
3. Then wait on a fix, or else try to find a fix on the 2007 machine(s) until you get it fixed.

At least this way, you can try to find the error, while getting around it for the time being.

Of course, I'm making a lot of assumptions here, and giving a general answer. You didn't provide very much information about your situation, so we don't have much to go on in order to provide better answers.

The situation is "Publisher cannot open file 1100009"

I have options of un-installing 2007 and re-installing either 2007 sp1 or 2003. That is not the issue

The problem is a known problem and has been for some time.

I am looking to discuss only with people who have had the problem and if they fixed it and how. If you have not encountered the problem then please don't respond.

zarkon4,

==>The problem is a known problem and has been for some time.

Know by whom for a long time?

If you really want good help, you need to provide more info. Something like. "I checked here - link, and they say this....

But in all honesty, it sounds like you've already got your answer, from your initial post.

It looks like the only answer is to un-install and re-install without SP2 or go back to 2003.

If you've done the research you imply you've done, then have you tried the advice you found so far? Otherwise, what have you tried?

But since there is specifically a Publisher forum, as cmeagan656 mentioned, perhaps you'll find someone who's "been there, done that." [wink] Then again, maybe not. If it's that important, I'd at least try the advise I'd found so far, and look for a long-term solution after getting the necessary tasks done now. I'm assuming this is for a business, not personal. If it's for personal, then by all means, it's totally up to you. [wink]

Either way, I hope you find a solution. If you do start another thread, it'd be good to post a link here to the new thread, in case anyone searches, and comes to this thread first.

I'm having the same issue. I created/edited a Publisher file yesterday, closed it, and now cannot open it except on another computer with Pub2002. Last month I broke up the 8-page newsletter file into separate pages using a different computer with Pub2002 and was able to open it that way on my computer with Pub2007, then I put it all back together in Pub2007 and got it to work. I've tried larger increments, but so far have not gotten any of those to open in Pub2007. Guess I'll try last month's approach...

Anyone know of a patch to fix this? I tried the RegEdit approach, but haven't seen that get me anywhere yet.

There is no fix for this yet. You will have to downgrade to 2003 or un-install 2007, re-install and do not install SP2

I'm very willing to uninstall PUB2007 and re-install Pub2002, but I can't uninstall PUB2007 without ALSO uninstalling all of the Office 2007 suite of programs. I don't want to do that. I was hoping I could just uninstall Pub2007, but I don't see a way to do that. I do have SP2, and going back to SP1 probably has big implications...

Why can't you uninstall any one part of Office?

If you run the Uninstall app from the Add/Remove programs list, it should prompt you to select different options.. When you go to the uninstall portion of that app, it'll ask if you want to remove the whole suite, or just certain programs.

Ok, It just appeared that it would uninstall the whole suite from Add/Remove programs. I didn't go far enough.

HOWEVER...I now don't need to do that, because I've stumbled on to their FIX for this problem. If you go to it will lead a person to the downloadable fix. I downloaded & installed it, and my problem seems to be solved. Yeah!!! I'm very happy now.

Great news! I'm glad that worked out! And the OP ought to also find it helpful once they read this thread the next time.
