I have 2 servers in a Metaframe XPa server farm. I publish desktops to the clients and also other applications through the program neighborhood. I have noticed that a user that is logged to server 1 may have applications also running on server 2. In our old 1.8 farm, we don't experience this even though the configuration for clients is basically the same. Once a user connects to their publish desktop, all applications are executed on the same server. Is there something I'm missing in XP that will duplicate this type of environment or is this normal?

Yes this is correct, Citrix XP use load balancing on applications wehereas 1.8 used it on the servers.

No because it's by design, however why don't you create duplicate applications and place 50% of users on one server and the other 50% on the other, however you are then losing the load balancing feature of Citrix.
