Hi,

i have the problem that every night i boot our Windows 2000 Terminalservers at next morning all published application icons disappear from client desktop. When they drop the button "Refresh" in Citrix Neighborhood the icons come back.

Is there any solution i can make this autmatically ?
Thanks for help

It happens a lot depending of the ica client version.
The best way to fixe : use NFUSE, it is free....it is a great tool....

Hi Citrix Engineer,

thanks for the quick answer. No, we don't use roaming profiles. We are using the latest (6.20) citrix client.

Is there any version which does not have this behaviour?

Thanks for answering!

If you're not using roaming profiles, then you need to make sure that the Default User profile is configured correctly.

This profile will be loaded every time a user logs on, if you do not use roaming profiles - it is part of how Terminal Services works. It can be cached in other locations (after it is loaded, it is cached in %systemroot%\Documents and Settings by default), but this locally cached copy must exist.

It's my guess that the icons are not automatically appearing because the users are loading up the default user profile.

Eric's suggestion of using NFuse is a good one - the more I deploy NFuse in intranets, the more I am getting to like it.

I hope this is helpful

Hi Citrix Engineer,

the default profile will be loaded only when a new user logs on the terminalserver. After the first login a profile of this user will be created on the terminalserver he is logged in.
At night the terminalserver reboots. So at next login all settings remain, only the icons of the published applications on the desktop disappear.
We don't have any idea whats the problem at this point.
If the terminalserver won't reboot at night the problem don't exist.

I have contact our citrix distributor but they didn't have any idea too!

Best regards
HomerJ

What I am thinking is that the settings are merely saved to the locally cached copy of the profile. If the user does not have a profile path specified, then it is possible that all settings (and icons) are lost when the server reboots.

I hope this is helping
