published app vs. remote desktop

my users were able to logon via citrix without error. Then about two weeks ago users would logon to the published application and just see a blank window. However, I am able to configure them to still have access through a remote desktop (not to fond of this - but it works). Several days ago I had someone from the networking dept. say that they had just made configuration changes and were blocking a lot of new ports. One of which was 1494 (which doesn't make sense because I shouldn't be able to connect at all) --- anyway - my question is - is there a port that was perhaps blocked or can anyone think of a reason why someone would be able to logon and get an error message that the published application failed to launch? I am the only one with access to the server and I had not made any changes prior to this happening. thank you for your help
 
The 2 Citrix related Citrix ports are the following: 1494 and 1604 for UDP. NOt sure if this will fix your problem, however, as a start make sure these ports are open
 
...and you also need a range of ports open from 1023 upwards. A neater solution would be to use Secure Gateway (seems popular at the moment!) and just use 443.

1494 and 1604 are open ----- if the high port range is not open - would that allow for the use of only remote desktop and not published app?
