I have created a published application which accesses an intranet page via Internet Explorer in Explicit mode.

Users already log on when powering up their machines and I don't particulary want them to have to sign on again to access this intranet page.

I have tried setting up in Anonymous mode and although able to connect have to reply ok to the following Access Denied error message:

"You are restricted from running the Internet Connection Wizard because you are not an administrator on this machine.

Contact your Network Administrator…"

Is there a way to avoid a second logon ?

I would guess that there are 2 issues here;

1) The proxy, or intranet site requires authentication - I believe this can be switched off for trusted groups. I think this would solve your "double login" issue.

2) Internet Explorer is trying to "complete installation". It does this via loadwc.exe (load WebCheck). To get around this annoying habit of IEs, check MS article Q176960, and the following options (IE can be quite a pain!).

To disable the Internet Explorer Tour, edit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and delete the BrowserWebCheck value name.

Don't just blank the data value (loadwc.exe), delete the Value Name.

Tip#2196 at
How do I stop ICW and Outlook Express desktop Icons from being installed into Windows 2000 new user profiles?

To remove the Outlook Express icon, used Regedt32 to navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed
Components\{44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}

Select the Stubpath value name in the right hand pane and delete it.

To prevent the ICW icon from being installed, use Regedt32 and select the HKEY_USERS hive. On the Registry menu, Load Hive. Browse to the NTUSER.DAT file of the default user. The local Default User NTUSER.DAT files is located
at: %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\Default User\Ntuser.dat.

Name the Key JSINEW. Navigate to:

HKEY_USERS\JSINEW\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Runonce

Delete the SetupICWDesktop value name. Select the JSINEW key and Unload Hive.

This tip from TheThin.net;

Another "lowtech" workaround is to log on as a new user and configure those settings. Then relace the default user ntuser.dat with the one that you have from your newly configured user.

Put a copy of the OE icon in the programs folder with the hidden attribute. (its there but users won't see it)

I hope these help :)
