You can do this with the combination of profiles and policies. Using system policies take everything off the desktop you don't want. Then log in, create the desktop you want, log out and then copy the profile to the "Default".
Question is, if you are only using 2 apps, why send them to a desktop at all. Just publish these apps and send the icons to either the desktop or the start menu. This guarantees that these 2 apps are all they will have access to.
Thanks Voyager1, I'll set up a system policy to lock out what I don't want them to have. I was planning on publishing the 2 apps seperately, but if a user launches both apps simultaneously won't it use 2 licenses?
The way ICA works means that once the user has established a connection via one published application, that license is re-used for the next connection.
ie A user could log onto 50 apps (theoretically) and use only one license.
Correct, that's one of many great things about MetaFrame. Even in a load-balanced environment, a second app from a single user will be given preference to go back to the original server, thus using one license. Great stuff!
About the one license . . . Be careful - because all the published apps have to be EXACTLY THE SAME. By this I mean - same resolution, color depth etc,. If differences exist between the connections - every "unique" connection will require a new license.
FYI: If you use NFuse (or any other web publisher for Citrix), are running Metaframe 1.8 and create a web site that links you to a published app within the screen - it only requires one license. That is what I am doing at our company - I have an internal web sight that links the users to my published Citrix apps. It is pretty cool.
