Public Folders

I have a number of remote users that connect to our HQ either by VPN or RAS to synchronize their mailboxes, raher than have a shared folder on the NT4 server giving users access I would prefer to create a public folder of some sort within Exchange 5.5 so the users can connect and have read and write access to word documents.

Is this possible and if so how would I go about it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
