When I first got my new vista, i somehow set it up so that other users on my network, could access my Public folder, if they had my username/password.

I must've messed aroudn with some things, but now anyone on my network can access my public folder, without the need for any password. Unless i go into the network settings and turn password "on".

All this did is make the public folder inaccessible, without a prompt for a password or anything. just a network error..

Things to do with Sharing and Networking are a little bit different in Vista compared with earlier systems, see if any of these are helpful?

I'll give a star, linney. I was waiting "for the right time" to sort out the home network, and your links had all the necessary info and made it easy. Thanks, even though I'm not the OP.

Thank you for the comments. There are lots of posts by numerous members, I find the whole site a wealth of information and I am often seen burrowing in to posts, old and new, saving lots of valuable information as I go.
