I'm currently trying to figure out what problem we could have since when my exchange server is sending e-mails it's going trought another server ( ISA SERVER 2000) with a virtual smtp to send e-mails. The Exchange server is behind the firewal ( ISA 2000 ) and when's sending e-mails it send it out to the virtual smtp then it's going to the internet.
The problem's that my server's is "server1.domain.com" but when it's sending it have an external address which doesn't correspond to this "server1.domain.com" . I known that we have been told that could cause problems, since if a mail server do a reverse dns checkup it doesn't work since there's no A record for server1.domain.com on the external side, but all e-mails are coming from the ISA server, so I can't put a A record pointing directly to the exchange server. What should I change to make sure that's it's ok with rfc rules ?
the exchange server is behind firewall and is also our website. All external ips are pointing to our ISA 2000 server then foward for example web request to our web server.
I hope you all understand my problem here, I just try to figure out what's I'm doing wrong and since I'm always checking my systems sometimes you don't comes to a solution.

Maxime F.
