I was just looking into getting myself a quiet PSU, and there is a huge price difference between 300 and 400+W units, I know my system now will run on a 300W because that's what is in there right now.... is there any easy way to determine how much power your hardware needs? I dont want to buy a PSU then discover when I upgrade my CPU then I'll need to buy yet another PSU to cope.

Do components always show how much power they use up?

You should be able to calculate how large a PSU you need.
Generaly a 300w psu is good enough for most systems, but if you want to upgrade to more hard drives, CD/DVD RW's etc the larger the better.
