I read somewhere that the PST size limit has changed with Exch 2003/Outlook 2003 and is no longer capped at 2GB. Can this be confirmed by anyone?

Thanks in advance.

The default maximum size in Outlook 11 (2003) for the new Unicode .pst files is 20GB. For older .pst files without Unicode support, the default maximum size is 1.8MB, the maximum physical size.

so to clarrify, if we setup users w/ pst
we can theoretically go over the 2gig limit that was set before ??

I know thats not good, but might help.
thanks

As long as you are using Exchange 2003 and
Outlook 11 (2003) with Unicode support you should be able to go over the previous 2 GB limit. Yes.

Outlook 2003 supports a new format for PST and OST files. The three main enhancements with the new format are:

Theoretical size limit of 33 Tb ….the old format
supported file sizes of up to 2 Gb

Supports folders with greater than 64,000 items

Supports Unicode data …the old format stored data in ANSI
