Has anyone encounter Archives.pst or any other pst files being locked up or not accessible??? The only way for me to unlock or resolve this issues is to stopped the Arcserve services and then test if I can access the pst file. Once I can access the pst file then I can restart the Arcserve services.

My questions are the following: Does anyone know why Arcsserve is locking these pst files even though there is no backup job running at the time?

By stopping the services on Arcserve, is this proper procedures? Is there a better solution on how to resolve this?

Is this problem due to user's leaving there Outlook open on their pc when the backup jobs are running at night??

Has anyone encounter this problem?

Any suggestions???

Thanks

The version of Arcserve I am using is Arcserve Windows NT
Enterprise edition version 6.5 (Build 620).

We are using Outlook 2000 and there are no file agents installed on this server.

Well, the question is if you really want to bac up there .pst files. If yes then you'll have to select the option "Use lock mode if deny write fails", if not then use 'deny none'. If lock mode still doesn't do it for you then I suggest open file agents, but judging by the fact they are on multiple servers, have the users store the pst file on one server and then install Open File Agent there, then proceed to back them all up with the one open file agent.

Just some thoughts,
