Hi,
I recently upgraded from XP to Vista Home Premium. I now find that PSP X won't run. When Itry to run it I get a message 'This copy of Paint Shop Pro has been damaged or illegally modified. Please reinstall from your original source.'

I have re-installed, twice now, if I accept the option to 'Run Paint Shop Pro' immediately at the completion of installation it runs apparently OK, but, if I close down and then try to start it I get the above error.

Any one any idea of what might have caused this and what I can do to get it running again?

Regards,
Bernard Davis

Try deleting the shortcut you're using to load PSP X and load it from Start - All Programs to see if you still get the error.

Thanks, that was one of the first things I did. I even went to the exe file and tried double clicking on that. No good.
I've also now upgraded to PSP XI and that wont run either. Time to move to Photoshop maybe?

When you uninstalled it, did you use the zapps.exe application provided by Corel? From what I've read that is the best way to uninstall the program. You can get it from ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/PaintShopPro/X
Most likely some registry entry didn't get removed during the installation and that's exactly where the problem is.

You should also install all update patches. For X, install 10.01, 10.02, 10.03 and 10.1 (in this order and by downloading each file from Corel's site instead of using the updater that comes with the program). The 10.1 patch is meant just for Vista users, as it maximizes the compatibility with the new theme.

Thanks for your reply. I've given up on PSP X (I wasusing the latest version, though), I finally managed to get PSP XI running.

It seems the version that I bought and downloaded from Corel yesterday needed to be upgraded. My bad for assuming that they would be supplying the latest version from their own web site for new customers.
