I have always liked Paintshop Pro over other graphics software.

I developed a huge banner type graphic (BMP) under PSP6. It is about 27 meg in size...essentially it is a file with strips of various banners that I can take over to Kinko's and have printed out using their plotter. Then cut into individual banners

Now 3 years later I have upgraded to PSP 8.0. I have been asked to modify this file. Well I thought...no problem...I have a new computer and Win XP (previous was a P90 and Win95), tons of memory .... should be a breeze....but it wasn't.

The graphic is 150 pixels/inch and the letters are Times New Roman and 500 - 800 font (they are big banners)

I had a lot of trouble with this file in PSP8. I set the redo's to 1 to save memory but nothing I tried worked and several times I locked up.

In desperation (I need this modified file by Saturday) I uninstalled PSP8 and reinstalled PSP6.

No problem....I easily made/saved the changes I needed in PSP6 with no particular preference changes.

So....my question is 2-fold

1. Is there some setting that I need to change to make this work in PSP10....

2. If not, I might want to do something like this in the future, sooooooo....can I install both versions on my machine at once?.....or is there a possiblity of conflicts.

as always your help is appreciated

I don't know what caused the problems with v8, as it should work, in theory, better than v6. Although... many people complained a lot about it at the beginning, so it might be one of the most buggy versions released. PSP X seems ok, I haven't had any problems with it yet.

Answering question #2, yes you can. All you have to do is install each version in a different folder.

I just upgraded from PSP7 to PSPX because I needed the batch process function. I was worried that maybe Corel messed with it and ruined it, as companies sometimes do when they buy a popular product from its original developer (I started with version 4.12 in 1996).

But so far so good, I'm pleased with it though it seems to take a long time to load. It shipped with the Photo Album program included so I'm not as concerned that the thumbnail browser seems less functional than version 7. One thing, it tried to sense my monitor and adjusted the colors wrong as a default, but all is fine since I turned off the automatic color adjust.
