pSeries 6H1 hardware

Hi,

I just installed a 6H1 in office. I find the 6H1 have some problem on hardware. I want to know that is our 6H1 hardware problem or gerenal 6H1 hardware problem.

1) The cdrom cannot automatically umount after run SMIT
2) The internal SCSI harddisk and CDROM transfer rate is very slow
3) The overall performance is slower than a B80 with equal CPU and RAM
4) Network adapter cannot auto-negotiation with CISCO switch


My oslevel is AIX 4.3.3 - ML 9 (AIX CD is 09/2001)

Lets take this one step at a time:

hmmm not sure about that one.

2) The internal SCSI harddisk and CDROM transfer rate is very slow
3) The overall performance is slower than a B80 with equal CPU and RAM

Do:

instfix -ik "IY22308"

This is a major performance bug in ML-09 if you do not have it download and install it.

4) Network adapter cannot auto-negotiation with CISCO switch

I have always had problems with auto-neg on cards, I always
set it to 100_FULL_DUPLEX I susgest you do the same.

In summary make sure that you install the fix above your box will then run like a dream, they are quick servers after all.
