PSD into Illustrator, Losing Bounding box?????

I am tranferring a line drawing from photoshop into Illustrator and turned it into a live trace and want to lose the white background to layer it on top of a solid color background. How can I do this without redrawing it?

Any thought?

...turn on "ignore white" in the trace settings, or with white included in the trace use transparency multiply or darken mode...
