psc 2410 drivers for mac Sno Lep confused fax

Does downloading the HP psc 2410 drivers for Mac Snow Leopard confuse the fax? We have been exclusively a dell xp pro and win 2000 home network until just recently and the 2410 has always been a good reliable relatively trouble free hunk of hardware. My wife just bought a mac pro with snow leopard (I know zilch about macs) then downloaded the mac drivers and software for the 2410 so she could use the psc2410 and all its features. The download and the install seemed to go ok. However the fax phone portion is confused. We have a single POTS landline (still subscribing to Verizon) with two numbers - each with a different ring. Before the download and install the 2410 would only respond to an incoming fax if someone manually pressed the fax and start buttons. After the mac software install the psc2410 now thinks every incoming call is a fax and automatically prints a fax incoming status page and hangs up the call. Now if the fax and start buttons are pressed when a real fax is incoming the fax capability works fine. But to prevent the 2410 from treating every incoming call on either number as a fax I had to disconnect the phone line - and only reconnect it to the 2410 when we know we have an incoming fax. Help!
