ps7 --i can't see red!!!

i cannot see any red colors in ps7, i have tried reinstalling ps, monitor,and vid card, nothing works

in the swatches box when i highlight "rgb red" it is not red, it is more of a rust color

when i scan negatives using my hp scanner the colors are fine in the hp program for viewing, but when i open it in photoshop all the red colors are gone...????????

i have tried all the presets in the prefs and also tried deleting the settings/prefs file, and everything is the same...no red

it can't be the monitor because i can see red colors on my desktop icons and in my desktop background......thanx
