Hello everyone,
I work for several employers, and most have PS5.5, but
there is one that doesn't want to upgrade because of price.

I mean, are there similar *freeware* plugins for Photoshop 4
that would mimic effects like Photoshop 5.5's Drop Shadow,
Inner Shadow, Outer Glow, Inner Glow, Bevel & Emboss and
Color Fill? Also the options for each would have to be
pretty much the same as in 5.5.

I know I've seen a freeware plugin around for PS4
for Drop Shadow, but it's a little on the simple side.

Or even if there are no plugins, would anyone know of
tutorials on how to do those kind of effects in PS4? All
the tutorial sites I ever see are always 5 or 5.5 and the
4.0 sites are dying away fast.

Much thanks,
Cake.

I used Photoshop 4.06 for quite a while, and the drop shadow effect is one that can be done without any additional plugins...

Just select the object that your shadowing, create a new layer underneath the object, fill it with a dark color, deselect, gaussian blur the new layer and shift it out of phase with the main object.

At any rate, a lot of the effects you find on PS5 and 5.5 sites can be done in the 4 series. Just stay away from anything that says ImageReady or "history brush" and you'll be fine. :)
