Hello All,

We have just applied SP2005.04 on a client site running W2003 Server (No SP). Everything appeared to work just fine but as the first block of users logged in the "Citrix Print Manager Service" stopped with an Event 7034.

I have been able to restart the service and everthing appears to continue OK for now but it was just very strange that this happened across every one of the Citrix servers within a half hour period.

Unfortunately lots of search of the Citrix and pother KBs returns no results for this specific error or anything similar.

Has anyone seen anything similar or had that event logged? If so did you find a cause / fix?

Help most appreicated in advanace!

Mike

MikeBatters,
Did you recently do any patching for these servers (maybe some .net upgrades?)?

I did some patching on our Win2k3 Servers and we had issues with the Citrix Print manager service.

We had some events being generated on the servers with 1116. Apparently there might be some issues with the .net version and the Citrix service.

Let me know if that helps.

Enigma - Cheers for the reply.

We only did the SP2005.04 update and did not do any others at the same time. It turned out that every user who tried had the "auto create client mapped printer" policy set caused the Print Manager Service to stop.

After a few of us bashing away for several hours with red herrings like a HP/Citrix document giving very specific driver version etc we found the source of the problem to be user permissions.

It was simple - Add the Ctx_Sma user to the local "Administrators" group and hey presto.....

Job done - Printers auto-created when users logged in an everything works just fine!

Thanks for the thoughts and i will keep an eye on .net updates to see if there are any issues caused when they are next updated. If they are i will post my findings.

Mike
