Can someone help. My problem is- Start XP Pro Mouse works fine.If I turn off computer right away and turn it right back on mouse works fine, but if I use computer for an hour and turn off to start right back up mouse does not work..
I have to wait about 30 minutes, restart and mouse works, and as long as I don't turn off the computer it will stay working.
Has anybody ever had problems like this?
ASUS P4B533 motherboard, Intel P4 2.0 (512 mem)
Thanks JB222

I think you have some kind of thermal sensitive connection problem to the mouse, or the mouse draws too much current. (Mouse ports have a resetable fuse that is temperature sensitve). Try a different mouse. If you can handle a voltmeter, compare the mouse port pins, hot and cold. Poorly soldered PCB connections are also often thermal sensitive.

Good luck,
Steve

Try switching to a serial mouse to see if the problem goes away. Like stevieblunder suggested in the previous post, you might have a bad PS2 mouse port or even a bad mouse.
