When I run the command ps -ef on an aix 4.3.2 server I get the following columns.

UID PID PPID C STIME TTY TIME CMD

I need to know what the value provided under C is for (I know the rest), I thought it was to do with scheduling but if I sort by highest numbers it has reached a value of over 200 so this seems unlikely.

Anyone know?

From the man page for ps:

C ( -f, l, and -l flags) CPU utilization of process or thread, incremented eac

time the system clock ticks and the process or thread is found to be running. The value is decayed by the scheduler by dividing it by 2 once per second. For the sched_other policy, CPU utilization is used in determining process
scheduling priority. Large values indicate a CPU intensive process and result in lower process priority whereas small values indicate an I/O intensive process and result in a more favorable priority.

Sorry is the pasting is a little awry!
