PS and AI CS Crash

My graphic designer is running WinXP and Adobe CS 2.0. When she uses Photoshop and Illustrator for several hours together the programs crash upon close or lock the system up completely.

The system has 1 gig of RAM and plenty of HD space. Any ideas?
