I have a micron laptop and I am trying to connect an external keyboard or mouse only one of the splits on the y splitter to work and I have replaced the splitter and it happens the same on the old splitter and the new one.

Let me clear this up. When I try to connect a mouse and a keyboard to the splitter only on split works correctly and I am wondering if there is a setting I need to change, or if I should exchange the splitter and see if a different one will work
Thanks

Sorry - still don't understand you. Do you mean that you are trying to connect a keyboard AND mouse on a splitter to one PS2 port? Nate Gagne

yes that is correct I am trying to connect a mouse and a keyboard to the ps/2 port

I have a similar situation on my own laptop. The morons who designed it (HP Omnibook) gave it a TV out and an external microphone jack, but only 1 PS2 port. I use a USB mouse and plug the kb into my PS2 port. If you have USB, I would recommend doing the same.

I've never tried a PS2 splitter for a kb and mouse. I would think that one device would interfere with the other. Nate Gagne

Pretty sure Nate is right on this one. I don't think you can have two devices on "one" PS/2 port. Laptops that have only one PS/2 port were designed to let you use an external mouse if you need to, but assumed you would use a docking station if you planned on having an external keyboard as well.

I still think they're idiots - they want us to buy a four figure docking station rather than including ONE MORE PS2 port. I complain about this because my laptop is my main system at work - I just connect an external monitor and kb/mouse. My company wouldn't shell out for a USB mouse, so I had to buy one out of pocket.

Anyone who uses a laptop knows that there is no comfortable laptop keyboard unless your fingers are toothpicks.

I did have it working before but I got a virus and had to format the h.d. now it doesnt work

I still don't believe it's possible. You may have had it working by a fluke. Nate Gagne

If it worked before, then you need to check the BIOS. Depending on the type of BIOS, the name of the setting can vary. Just look for anything in there that relates to PS/2. Best of luck...

contact the manufacturer or resort to their website. that's all I have left to recommmend...
