I'm running a dual-boot with Win98SE and Win2000 server on an HP Pavilion PC. When I boot to W98, the ps/2 mouse works fine. When I boot to Win 2000 server, the mouse doesn't work, even though I receive no errors and the device manager reports that the mouse is working properly.

Try another mouse. Yours may not be compatible with 2k.(I dont see why it wouldnt be though). Go to Control panel and open the mouse properties, then choose hardware, then properties. make sure its enabled. Then open the system in control panel and choose hardware and open device manager, are the com ports enabled? are there any conflicts? Is your mouse listed under mice and other pointing devices?
