Hi,

At the school where I work we are using Netware 6 SP5 and Zenworks 4.01 ir6.

I have Window Group Policies set up for the Windows XP Professional computers and they are working great.

I'm trying to set up the Student Group Policy for Windows XP so they can't install software from CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, floppies etc.. Under User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Installer\Prevent Removeable Media Source For Any Install, I enabled this policy figuring that it would prevent students from installing software DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, floppies etc.. but it didn't work.

Is there a policy in Group Policy for the students that I can prevent them from installing software DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, floppies etc? If so, where is the exact location (i.e. is it under User Configuartion or Computer Configuration etc..)?

Thanks!

Brad

Generally speaking, there are lots of policies available, and you can create custom policies... The point being that if you can find the policy in Windows, you can usually use ZEN to enforce it.

It might be better to ask about this particular policy in a Windows forum, then use that knowledge to plug it into ZEN.

If you do find the answer, posting it would be valuable for lots of people since this is a big concern for many organizations. Especially schools, governement agencies, and other places where confidentiality and regulatory compliance is critical.
