Hi,
Is there a quicker way of pruning multile jobs from the Job list for a Storage Policy.

I have to right-click on each job and select 'Prune Job'.

Is there any other method where I can select multiple jobs and prune them.

Thanks.

I am not aware of any bulk prune utility.

Are the jobs on MAG or Tape? If the entire tape or volume contains jobs that you need to prune you can use the delete contents option. Just right click on the mountpath or tape and choose delete contents. After that completes run data aging.

Don't use this if you have jobs you want to keep on that particular volume/tape.

If the jobs you want to delete are spread across multiple volumes/media you will have to continue to prune by job.

Hi thanks for the response,
The jobs are on magnetic media(Hard drive). There are jobs I want to keep but quite a few that I want to get rid of.

So pruning each job manually is the only way... its going to be a long day for me.

cheers

I can't tell you how many times I've requested the ability to multi-select both jobs to prune as well as jobs to be copied for storage policy copies. I suspect that the SQL database can't handle such a huge update if you were to prune too many things at one time, but data aging basically does the same thing depending on how many database updates there are. I guess Commvault is too busy writing patches to address the countless bugs in the software. I'm not bashing, I love the product, but I wish they would implement some of the customer requests.

They do implement customer requests if there is a business case for it and it's financially viable to work on the feature....that is, if enough people ask for it.

Would be good though to be able to multi select jobs for pruning...maybe we should all ask ;-)

cool,
I'll put in a request and so can all of you :)
Then we can all enjoy the benifits multi-job selection.

I have enough trouble with CV writing patches in a timely manner to enable functionality that is advertised and used as a selling point. Some of my trouble tickets have been flat out ignored in the past. I wouldn't even think about pushing a request for an enhancment at this point. As I said before, I am a fan of the product, but they definitely have some development and customer support issues to address in my opinion.
